Mahakala is the deity of void space, a deity of the universe. It terrifies and deters all darkness and evil beings. Holding the vajra chain in the left hand and the vajra pestle in the right hand, he hooks, straps and tames all evil. He wears six bone accessories representing the practice of the Six Perfections and the elimination of self-attachment.
