Mahakala is the wrathful expression of Guanyin Bodhisattva in a fierce, mighty and powerful depiction. It is a manifestation of Guanyin Bodhisattva's great compassion. It is recorded in many Buddhist Sutras that this great bodhisattva has enlightened and gained Buddhahood a long time ago. It manifests as Mahakala to bless suffering sentient beings with good fortune.

Mahakala is the deity of void space, a deity of the universe. It terrifies and deters all darkness and evil beings. Holding the vajra chain in the left hand and the vajra pestle in the right hand, he hooks, straps and tames all evil. He wears six bone accessories representing the practice of the Six Perfections and the elimination of self-attachment.
